How many moments do you remember from today? What about from the past week? Do you take time to reflect...to capture them in your memory bank...to store them away so that they're not lost?
My intention with every Monday through the end of the year is to capture/highlight the most significant moments from sometime during the past week. I want to do this because setting the intention to notice moments from my daily life means I must be conscious through every interaction. It also heightens my gratitude, which increases my happiness.
My daughter and I carved pumpkins yesterday. Even though it's not something I enjoy doing, I WANTED to do it with her. She's only young for a bit longer. I want to capitalize on all the fun, silly moments that I can have with her before she's no longer interested. The sweetest moment of the entire process was when she climbed into my lap and told me how much she loved the time we spent together.
And today, Mike and I completed some personal stuff that's been pending our attention for a while. Once we were done, there was an immense sense of relief. A significant 'to do' was finally complete. The thought of it is no longer pressing on my shoulders. I feel lighter.
Recalling these two moments brings sweet relief: sweetness from my daughter's heartfelt gratitude for something as simple as pumpkin carving, and relief from checking a really big box.
What's one moment within the past week that was most memorable to you and why?
Be open to what comes.
