For most, life is nice when it's simple, repeatable—when we know what to expect. Such circumstances yield the feeling of safety. It's when we are pushed to explore situations that don't fit the status quo that we start to feel frustrated, anxious, maybe even angry.
When was the last time you were pushed out of your comfort zone and welcomed the opportunity to be challenged?
My daughter is frequently challenged by new topics/methods in school. When she exhibits frustration with grasping the content, I explain to her that her brain is growing.
I took that page out of my parenting playbook today and used it on myself. I challenged myself, and I welcomed it, even though it was uncomfortable. My brain grew today, in big, BIG ways.
I believe the more we expand our knowledge and open ourselves up to greater possibilities, the more joyous and compassionate we become. Here's hoping we all explore opportunities and make our brains grow!
Be open to what comes.
