How often do you ask your kids, "How was your day today?" when they come home from school? Do you struggle to get more out of them than the standard, "Good"? If so, you're not alone. Many of us try our best to dig inside the beautiful brains of our kiddos, only to find them not interested in our line of questioning.
If you'd like to learn more about your child's day at school, consider checking out some of the questions in this article at Huffington Post. I've tried them all and it helps make the discussion with my daughter a bit more interesting.
In addition, it doesn't hurt to repeat the really interesting TableTopics "game." Not sure I'd really call it a game. It's just a simple box filled with cards, on each a single question. My daughter pulled it out just yesterday morning. It was delightful to see her pick that as something for us to do together. There were some really great questions in there too, some of which I thought I'd share below:
How are you different from everyone else?
What do you worry about the most?
When was it most difficult to persevere when you wanted to quit?
In what ways are you generous?
What would you like to change about your school?
Be honest. Those are some FANTASTIC questions! I really had to give thought to my own answers! And I was truly intrigued to hear my daughter's answers.
If you'd like to purchase TableTopics and support this blog, check out the links below. They are affiliate links, which means that if you click on one of the product links, I’ll receive a small percentage of the sale to help offset costs of running this blog.
