My daughter finished second grade today. We celebrated by taking her to the ice cream shop, toy store, restaurant of her choosing, and the playground.
While on the playground, I watched her play intently. She displayed courage in areas where she's historically been terribly passive, if not downright fearful. We've had numerous discussions about the fun she's missing out on due to being scared or shy. But I've always left the decision about how she wants to proceed to her. It was nice to see her make some changes today. She had a lot of fun!
The changes I saw in her today caused happiness and nostalgia. Children grow up so fast. It seems like only yesterday she was a baby. As a preemie, she dropped to 1 lbs, 14 oz before starting to gain weight. And now she's a healthy, active, strong, and opinionated soon-to-be eight year old.
I am proud of her hard work and growth over the past year and look forward to watching her mature even more.
Be open to what comes.
