(It's July 4th! I had to take a break from my mid-year checkup to acknowledge this important day. Hope you don't mind. Part 2 of my mid-year progress update is up tomorrow.)
Today marks the 241st year of America's independence. While I, like many, celebrate this day with cookouts and fireworks, I can't help to reflect on what it means to me to live in this country.
I am blessed to live in a country where I can speak freely and protest peacefully. I am blessed to have a world of possibilities available to me. I am blessed in that I believe I can do whatever I set my mind to, and this country does nothing to stop me.
It is no wonder why so many flock here!
This post is neither elegant, nor poetic. It is short and sweet. I think that's because I just don't feel there are enough words to convey my gratitude for the luxury of being able to call this country my home.
What about you? What do you to to celebrate the 4th? What's it meant to you to live in the U.S.?
Be open to what comes.
