This is the second post in this series. If you missed the first one, check out 2017 Progress Update (pt 1).
So now that I know my efforts thus far this year have, in fact, aligned with my mind-mapping exercise completed earlier in the year, now it's time to check out my vision board.
I was going to keep with the same theme as in the prior Progress post, but I realized I couldn't do that with ease. Why? Because the mind mapping was seemingly done with my brain, but the vision board was done with my heart. Meaning, the vision board pictures, phrases, and words that spoke to me were because I desired a FEELING and not a specific thing (even though my mind mapping detailed specific desired results).
While I identified the following categories/themes within my vision board, you can see they do not correspond to the same categories identified for my mind map. I didn't list every word, phrase, and picture below, but did list a couple of things so that you could see what I mean.
- Feeling in control of my life/Being open to change
(Find who you have not yet become, The choice is yours)
- Feeling peaceful/tranquil
(Pictures that gave me a sense of beauty/peace)
- Feeling healthy
(Thrive, Healthy habits)
- Making a positive impact on the world
(Leave a beautiful legacy, Model leading)
Assessing my progress from this alternative vantage point was very interesting, and WAY more challenging. Rather than quantifying my progress, I had to assess it qualitatively. So, how in control do I feel of my life? A lot. How much peace do I feel? A ton. How healthy do I feel. Eh. I feel healthy, but not as much as I'd like. And, how about the positive impact impact on the world? I can only hope.
Be open to what comes.
