If you haven't read Sunday's post, I'm celebrating the halfway mark of this experiment—the effort of paying attention to (being conscious of) my thoughts, feelings, actions, and beliefs as they arise during the course of my normal life.
I'm doing this to not only practice consciousness, but also to share with anyone willing to read that it is possible to increase consciousness. It's simply being aware of things at a deeper, more meaningful level, as opposed to just living life like you're on a treadmill...walking, but never really MOVING forward.
I have found that living consciously drastically improved my life. I'm hoping to help others make the shift too.
Continuing the mid-year assessment theme from the past two days, I thought I should give some thought to my word for 2017—Connection. Just like the vision board, identifying a word for the year was new to me. I picked connection because I really wanted to improve my connection with others. I'm a serious introvert, so connecting with others really requires some dedication and practice. So, I thought assigning a word for the year might help me focus on it a bit more.
Has setting my word helped me focus on it? I actually think it has. I may be biased, but I think of connecting with others often. When I get scared of doing something and putting myself out there, I honestly remember that connecting is something I want to focus on.
This blog is a way for me to connect with my daughter, now and in the future, about meaningful things. I want her to know what I value and why. I want her to know that perfection is not attainable. I want her to know that we're all flawed, but that we all still deserve love and belonging.
This blog is also a means to connect with you—family, friends, and strangers. It's a way for me to share my thoughts and experiences. With that said, I'm curious about YOU!
I'm requesting a favor...
If you're reading this post, please share at least ONE thing about your year so far. How have you shown up in 2017? If that question doesn't resonate, answer how the year has treated you so far. And, if you're willing to go one step further, share one thing you're looking forward to in the second half of the year.
I would so love to connect with you! (Feel free to post either on FB or below in the Comments section.)
Be open to what comes.
