Today marks the beginning of the end of summer for us. My daughter starts school on Monday.
To commemorate the last few days of summer break, my husband and I decided to have our own special days with our daughter. Today was my turn. It was Mom/daughter day. We played games, we went out to lunch, and we shopped! We did that before we went to school to meet her new teacher and get things squared away. Tomorrow, it's my husband's turn.
I was very conscious throughout the day. My kid's personality shone through during so many moments. From the evil little giggles she let out while playing games (because she was "ahead of me" ... or she thought she was) to her style choices when buying shoes, it was truly special to see how she's maturing and changing.
With the school schedule starting up again next week, my kid loved the personalized attention today offered. And I loved giving it to her. And there's more to come over the next few days. I can't think of a better way to celebrate the end of summer.
Be open to what comes.
