My quest to eat better continues...
I had serious temptations today! Someone brought in donuts into work this morning, a cake for someone's birthday, and a co-worker made some great food for lunch and brought it in. All that in one day!
I was able to turn down everything until about 4pm. At that point, I really wanted to taste the German chocolate cake. I chose to have a SLIVER! It was delightful...until the sugar crash came.
OMG! I fought to stay awake during the commute home. I didn't have much cake, yet that slump was CRAZY intense! I was very aware of how tired my body was after eating just a small amount of cake!
I don't recall my body reacting that way before. I'm not sure if it's because I've greatly limited sugar intake, the ingredients in the cake, or what, but that sugar crash was eye opening. Honestly, feeling that tired made me realize that I may have to reconsider what desserts I eat. I may only eat ones I make for myself that are low-glycemic. I never want to feel like that again.
Here's to another day of eating mostly healthy, and realizing how much sugar affects my energy.
Be open to what comes.
